Title: Embracing the Rich Tapestry of Chinese Culture: A Presentation on Chinese Cultural Elements
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Good [morning/afternoon/evening]. It is a great honor to stand before you today to share with you the fascinating and diverse world of Chinese culture. As we embark on this journey together, there are several key points to consider when crafting a speech about Chinese culture in English. Here are some important事项 to keep in mind:
1. "Research and Knowledge": Ensure that you have a solid understanding of the topic. Research various aspects of Chinese culture, including history, traditions, art, literature, and social norms. This will help you provide accurate and insightful information.
2. "Language and Tone": Since you are delivering the speech in English, it is crucial to use clear, concise, and grammatically correct language. The tone should be respectful and informative, avoiding stereotypes or generalizations.
3. "Cultural Sensitivity": Be mindful of cultural nuances and sensitivities. Avoid making assumptions or comments that might be offensive or misunderstood. It's important to represent Chinese culture in a respectful and accurate manner.
4. "Structure": Organize your speech with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. The introduction should grab the audience's attention, the body should provide detailed information, and the conclusion should summarize the key points and leave a lasting impression.
5. "Engagement": Keep the audience engaged by using storytelling, examples, and
Good morning, everyone
Today I will talk about the Poetry of Tang Dynasty, which is the rare treasure of Chinese culture.
First, I ‘d like to share a famous poem by Li Bai.
Thoughts on a Silent Night
Before my bed a pool of light,
Oh can it be frost upon the ground.
Looking up, I see the moon bright,
Head bent, in homesickness I’m drowned.
Modern Chinese also like the classical poetry. Even Chairman XI often quotes them many times. For example, he once quoted the poems of Wang Bo to comment on the relationship between China and its friendly neighbors, saying that good friends are good friends no matter how far away they are.
The poetry of Tang Dynasty is just like our old friend, who can take us to learn the beauty and discover the beauty.
It is just right here waiting ,let’s enjoy it together.
Spring Festival (春节)
What is Spring Festival? The Spring Festival is the most important festival for the Chinese people and is when all family members get together, just like Christmas in the West. The Spring Festival falls on the 1st day of the 1st lunar month, often one month later than the Gregorian calendar. It originated in the Shang Dynasty (c. 1600 BC-c. 1100 BC) from the people's sacrifice to gods and ancestors at the end of an old year and the beginning of a new one.Strictly speaking, the Spring Festival starts every year in the early days of the 12th lunar month and will last till the mid 1st lunar month of the next year. Of them, the most important days are Spring Festival Eve and the first three days. Most people will have a week off , thus, this time is known as golden week. 春节传统风俗Spring Festival Traditions1 Spring Cleaning大扫除“Dust”(尘)is homophonic with “chen”(陈)in Chinese, which means old and past. In this way, “sweeping the dust” before the Spring Festival means a thorough cleaning of houses to sweep away bad luck in the past year. Chinese People believe that in order to receive the new luck, you have to swipe the bad luck. All the cleaning has to be done before the end of New Year’s Eve, that’s what Chinese people always called “Ci Jiu Ying Xin”: saying goodbye to the old and welcoming the new.“Dust” 与“尘”是谐音(尘在汉语中的意思是旧的和过去的)。
